Caring for Aabriti

Aabriti Adhikari is 6 years old. She is one of four children in the world diagnosed with an incredibly rare ALG13 gene mutation. This means that she has genetic epilepsy, autism, vision impairment, moderate cerbral palsy and global development delay amongst many other issues. She requires 24/7 care, is non-verbal and requires full assistance for everything, as her level of understanding and skills are comparable with children aged 6-12 months.

Her family are committed to giving Aabriti the best quality of life possible and urgently need to raise funds to pay for the medically recommended 20-40 hours of intensive weekly therapy to help develop social, play and communication skills physical fitness, muscle strength and coordination. The cost of this therapy is $60-70,000 per year, which is not within the means of this family, and unfortunately there is no national disability funding available for this therapy, as there are only a few providers within Australia.

Aabriti is the daughter of Bala Ram Adhikari, a finance officer working for the NSW Police Force. Bala's colleagues have rallied together to create this fundraising appeal to assist with the medical costs that Bala and his family face.

NSW Police Legacy is the NSW Police Force Charity. We work to help NSW police and their families facing tragedy and difficult circumstances, and rely heavily on community support, and a large portion of this comes from fundraising events and activities involving dedicated people like you.

What we will gain from your donations is invaluable, and for that we cannot thank you enough!
